Since its official designation as a National Wild and Scenic River inthe National Park Service, the White Clay Creek Steering Committee, and partner organizations have worked together to preserve watershed features that enhance water quality, natural resources and the over all quality of life.

How the US Code is built. White Clay Creek Wild and Scenic Rivers System Act. AN ACT To designate segments and tributaries of White Clay Creek, Delaware and Pennsylvania, as a component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1.

Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (P.L. ) to authorize a study of the White Clay Creek and its tributaries. The amendment directed the National Park Service to determine the eligibility and suitability of the White Clay Creek and its tributaries for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.

Wild and Scenic Rivers System. SEC. DESIGNATION OF WHITE CLAY CREEK. Section 3(a) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (16 U.S.C. (a)) is amended by adding at the end the following: 16 USC note. White Clay Creek Wild and Scenic Rivers System Act. The White Clay Creek Scenic & Recreational River flows through southwestern Chester County, Pennsylvania, and northwestern New Castle County, Delaware.

The urban center of Newark, Delaware, is located in the southern end of the watershed. InCongress designated a large majority of White Clay Creek and its tributaries as part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. Then-Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) was the lead sponsor for the Senate bill and Representative Mike Castle (R-DE) was the lead sponsor for the House version.

The amendments to the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act represent 16 USC, Sectionsamended through March (the last amendments to the Act). Also included are the Federal Register notices for Section 2(a)(ii) designations, complete through November Pennsylvania Scenic Rivers Program State and Federally Designated Rivers.

The National Wild and Scenic Rivers System was created by Congress in (Public Law ; 16 U.S.C. et seq.) to preserve certain rivers with outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values in a free-flowing condition for the enjoyment of present and future generations. The Act is notable for safeguarding the special character.

The White Clay Expansion Act adds approximately nine miles of river segments to the already existing miles protected under the Wild and Scenic Rivers designation, with no associated federal cost.

The bill expands the original designation to incorporate approximately 9 miles of two small stream sections that were omitted from the original Wild and Scenic Rivers designation.
